I'm Valbona, a holistic doctor turned full-time travel storyteller, based in Chicago. Travel has always been my second language; I've been speaking it fluently since my first solo trip in 2013.
I believe the best travel experiences come from genuine connections with locals and immersing yourself in their culture, not just ticking off tourist checkboxes. My goal is to show you a world that's richer, more welcoming, and more surprising than the media portrays.
Empowering women to explore confidently and safely on their own terms has become a passion for me. Breaking stereotypes. Discovering hidden hospitality. Coming home changed.
Real travel means going beyond the tourist trail, eating where locals eat, staying in family guesthouses, and letting serendipity be your guide.

Solo female travel is one of the most liberating acts of self-discovery. I'm here to make it more accessible, safer, and more joyful for every woman.

I began participating in medical volunteer trips abroad in various parts of the world, as I was beginning my journey in medicine.
I finished my acupuncture internships and completed all medical exams. Afterwards, I decided to take a year off to travel, which then extended a bit longer.
I took a few short-term job contracts abroad working in the intergrative medicine field. I continued to travel between contracts.
I started my website to share my travel experiences, and offer my help to those who want to feel inspired to travel more.
